Net Zero Carbon Emission & ESG Lighting Seminar
The seminar opened with Chen Yi-Chang, Chairman of the Taiwan Lighting Association, who explored the critical role that lighting design plays in the shift towards net-zero carbon emissions. He emphasized how lighting designers should incorporate energy-saving and carbon-reduction strategies into their plans, leveraging precise lighting technology to help achieve sustainability goals.
Next, Zheng Jia-Xin, General Manager of Young Top International, discussed the increasing global focus on climate change and how companies' performance in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) metrics has become crucial for investors and society alike. He highlighted the importance of planning for carbon rights to improve competitiveness, noting that net-zero emissions and carbon rights are essential components in this strategy.
The final speaker, Feng You-Jia, Deputy Manager of the Product Department at JAN CHENG Lighting, presented how the company uses high-efficiency LED lighting to help businesses reduce electricity consumption. By optimizing lighting design and configurations, companies can achieve energy savings and lower carbon emissions without compromising illumination quality.
Huang Chen-Wei, General Manager of JAN CHENG's Southern Division, pointed out that lighting accounts for 15% of Taiwan's national electricity consumption, with 20% of office power usage coming from lighting. She emphasized that the lighting industry must work together to focus on energy-saving and carbon-reducing lighting solutions. By using high-efficiency lighting products, businesses can reduce carbon fees and even apply for voluntary carbon credits, contributing to Taiwan's goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. This, CEO Huang noted, is an issue that all companies must take seriously.
